DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. – Sheriff Tony Chavis is continuing his annual Cooling Project to assist senior citizens and families in need during the summer heat throughout Darlington County.
“It is already getting warm, and it is important we remember those who need a helping hand staying cool this summer,” stated Sheriff Tony Chavis.“With the public’s support we have collected hundreds of fans the previous two years, and I look forward continuing this partnership to help others.”
Donations of new air conditioners, fans, and cases of bottled water will be collected from May 1st until June 15th at the Sheriff’s Office located at 1621 Harry Byrd Hwy. in Darlington. Individuals who donate an air conditioner or a fan will be entered in for a chance to win a flat screen TV. To have donations picked up,please call the office at (843)398-4501.
