Second Kidnapping Suspect Captured in Kansas

LAMAR, S.C. – According to Sheriff Tony Chavis, the second suspect wanted for the burglary of a residence and subsequent kidnapping of the victim.  

Investigators allege, on February 19, Devante Lamar Clark, 26,of Bishopville, and Barry Anthony Jones, Jr., 21, of Timmonsville, entered the victim’s home near Lamar and assaulted the victim.  The pair allegedly took money and items out of the home, and then kidnapped the victim. The pair allegedly attempted to take the victim to an area bank to force the victim to retrieve money from a bank account, however the victim escaped.

Clark fled South Carolina and was captured in Harvey County, Kansas.  Clark was extradited to South Carolina; arriving yesterday evening.  Clark is expected to appear before a Darlington County Magistrate tomorrow morning.  Jones was arrested March 1 and was denied bond by a Darlington County Magistrate.  Jones remains in custody at the W.Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
