Investigators Make Arrest in Kidnapping, Search Continues for Second Suspect
LAMAR, S.C. – According to Sheriff Tony Chavis, Investigators with the Special Victims Unit have arrested a suspect following an investigation into the burglary of a residence and subsequent kidnapping of the victim.
Investigators allege, on February 19, two suspects entered the victim’s home near Lamar and assaulted the victim. The suspects allegedly took money and itemsout of the victim’s home. The suspects then forced the victim into the victim’s truck and drove to an area bank where they attempted to force the victim to retrieve money from a bank account. The victim was able to escape.
Barry Anthony Jones, Jr., 21, of Timmonsville, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and burglary, first degree. Jones’ bond has been denied, and he remains in custody at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
Investigators continue to search for Devante Lamar Clark, 26,of Bishopville.
